It's not on the Strip, but it's close
Located on 4455 Paradise Road, the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino is not on the famous Las Vegas Strip, but it's not too far away. Paradise Road runs nearly parallel with the Strip (Las Vegas Boulevard South), but two streets over to the east. If you go west on East Harmon Ave from the Hard Rock you'll get to the Strip right where Planet Hollywood is located.It's about a one mile walk from the Hard Rock to Planet Hollywood.
The Hard Rock is also located just one block away from the University of Nevada Las Vegas campus, making it a convenient located to stay if you're visiting a friend or attending a sporting event.
Room prices and entertainment
Although the room prices at the Hard Rock might seem expensive for a hotel not located on the Strip, it's important to remember that it's very close to the Strip. The Hard Rock also has some very nice rooms and it's really one of the best places for young people to stay in Las Vegas. College students and young adults will enjoy the nightlife and the Rehab pool facility.
The standard double queen room in Paradise Tower has two queen beds and a flat screen TV. There are also standard king rooms available for those of you who actually sleep with the people you bring to Vegas. For those looking to impress, there are also penthouses available with various themes. The Sex & Pistols Penthouse has a postmodern punk theme, while the Stones Penthouse is more classically themed. The Provocateur Penthouse has a bed that is so big there isn't a name for it. I think "Triple King" would be most accurate. There are many other penthouses, suites, and villas at the Hard Rock and I can't claim to have been in half of them. The Pool Villas look amazing and have great views of the pool and most have direct access to the pool and a private cabana.
Hard Rock might not have a nightly Cirque du Soleil Show or the Blue Man Group or Carrot Top performances, but I think it might be the best entertainment venue in Las Vegas for people who like to entertain themselves. Clubs include the Vanity Nightclub and Skybar, among others. Rehab is the name for their pool party area. I've included a video of a typical summer day at Rehab. Hundreds of beautiful people drinking and chilling at the pool.
Prices for a room at the Hard Rock start at about $79 offseason and $99 during peak times. The suites and penthouses will cost considerably more.

We went there and found out that it wasn't a "family" type hotel, so we went to the Excalibur. Great Hub, makes sense that it's more college age oriented because the college is just around the corner.
The Hard Rock Casino Tower Pool View is room I stayed in last time I was in Vegas. i loved it. such a great hotel to stay in
